This is the iconic circular drop leaf table first designed for Ercol by their Italian founder Lucian Ercolani in 1957 for the breakthrough Windsor range. The ever so slightly oval design of the table allows for up to 8 diners to fit around when the table is open.
This stunning and eye catching design is one of those pieces everyone recognises and instantly falls in love with. It represents nostalgia, great design and the liberal ideals of the Modernists who redesigned Britain during the period of regeneration following the devastation brought by the two World Wars.
This vintage table combines the wild beauty of English Elm for the table top surface with the straight strength of beech for supporting frame. A winning combination of stength, form and function. The Elm this table is made from would have started life as a sapling at the time when Queen Victoria came to the throne as a young girl. Quite some history!
Please be aware, this is an authentic vintage piece which has been recently restored. I have removed paint, sanded and oiled it to restore it to its former glory. Strong and sound as you would expect from Ercol.
Table top is slightly oval:-
Width lengthwise 113.5cm
Width crosswise 125cm
