This is the iconic Studio Couch first designed for Ercol by their Italian founder Lucien Ercolani in 1958.
This stunning and eye catching design is one of those pieces everyone recognises and instantly falls in love with. It represents nostalgia, great design and the liberal ideals of the Modernists who redesigned Britain during the period of regeneration following the devastation brought by the two World Wars.
The low and laid back form when set up as a sofa is incredibly comfortable. This piece is also designed to be used as a daybed at 210cm long. The cushion is made to a high specification using a firm foam which has been sandwiched between softer layers for comfort and then upholstered in a quality natural linen fabric. The back board can also be easily removed if desired by unscrewing three handles at the back.
This vintage daybed combines the wild beauty of elm for the backboard with the straight strength of beech for supporting frame. A winning combination of stength, form and function.
Height 80cm - seat cushion alone is 15cm deep
Please be aware, this is an authentic vintage item. It has been cleaned and waxed. A beautiful icon and a bit of history for your home.
